Currently, recent draftees and future draft picks are not allowed to be traded until the offseason. This has resulted in some PTBNL trades, but if we can PTBNL completely, this is an option to still allow some flexibility in negotiations. Please vote to allow trading of both of these pieces before the July trade deadline.
In other words, during June/July 2021, this would allow for signed 2021 picks to be traded and future 2022 picks to be traded. This is an alternative/compromise to PTBNL.

The only issue with trading draft picks early will be teams in the off season signing comp FA's that have already traded away their 1st,2nd or 3rd round picks. I feel that teams that abuse this situation should have to forfeit their future year 1st round pick. This is part of another poll and we may need to bring them together and come up with a full situation strategy that every GM understands with trading away draft picks and signing Comp FA's. I am voting to allow, but we need to review this in the off season..

If we see teams taking advantage, we may have to revisit.

How is this abuse?

The potential is there, as it already currently is, to trade away picks and then sign comp FAs.

I voted “no” as the future draft picks are not set in stone and there is no guarantee what # it would be. I think that introduces too much risk and variance.

If we really want things to remain on an equal playing field, then we should just not allow trading of any picks. I'm against pretty much any rule that restricts an individual from having the ability to build their team how they choose to do so. If you're consistently trading away your future draft picks, its eventually going to bite you in the rearend and most likely pretty hard.

Signed draft picks and future picks will be allowed to be traded this year up to the deadline (including after the draft).
