I did take the time to re-read the Slack thread on the items discussed during the creation of ABL and was intrigued by the discussion of whether to trade pre-sim, post-sim or, as ABL settled on, both options. I know this would mean adjusting an actual ABL Rule, as opposed to just tweaking a setting, but as Commissioner I would rather adopt a “Pre-Sim ONLY” position if most agree.
Commissioners tend to sim a league by routine. I won’t run through the entire list, but it's essentially a checklist (very real at first, mainly mental later - but very much a routine, at least for me).
Because it allows:
Yes, instruction to the Commissioner, if the trade features impact players and happens at a critical point in the season, would be required. I can handle that (I think )!
Yes, a wrench is tossed into all of this should a trade not be approved in-game (and I will not force a trade, for example, that runs counter to the financial mechanics), but that requires a certain amount of homework by engaged GM's, which I think is a good thing and keeps you totally focused on your team.
Yes, I realize this will also require changing an ABL rule (and I don't want it to appear we'll constantly be doing that - we won't).
I know this may re-open discussion, and I'm fine with that. For that reason once again, just in case there is a visible stalemate, "as is" will be option #1 and I am fine to continue this season that way (and maybe revisit this - or not - in future)! Please coment.
And please vote!

Because it allows:
- Routine
- Processing trades at one time (instead of sessions before and after, granted that would be rare outside of the trade deadline I would concede)
- Zero action required for potential injuries to players involved - if they get injured on their new team, it happens - and for post-sim trades there is debate about whether to clear the injury, void the trade, etc., which I would rather avoid
- Almost most importantly, should a trade not be allowed by the game (which I will respect each time), nobody loses their players and the players simply play out their sim because no movement takes place
