Serious question - PLEASE cast a vote and add an opinion below. I welcome all feedback!Having taken over the league, I have had some problems. Some of my own doing, some because of the game creation and resulting file size that, as I have outlined, is already as substantial as leagues 30 years old or more. Having 50 rookie level teams in just the Gulf Coast and Dominican leagues causes bloat, in my opinion. And a vast mahority of the talent is just taking up space and will never make the Majors! Yes, there may be the odd one, but not many, plus many GM's do not meticulously pay attention to those levels, so we may end up with teams having many times the number of players that should be getting time there, which will only magnify the issues in short order. That said, another new league, started by a GM here, has a file that is somewhat larger. Good Luck! Honestly. My internet does not seem to be able to handle the normal, in-game, transfer. I have resorted to Filezilla to complete the process, but it is not optimal. So...
- I have created a brand new file, using current MLB rosters.
- I have deleted the APPALACHIAN, PIONEER and DOMINCAN rookies leagues (and deleted the players involved), leaving ONLY the Arizona and Gulf Coast rookie leagues.
- I made one tiny adjustment, moving a San Diego rookie league team to be a Colorado affiliate (so they would have a rookie team). That leaves most teams with one (NYY and DET two).
- All other levels are default in the game.
- I have move TAMPA to VANCOUVER and changed the structure to what we have currently in ABL, so nothing changes there.
- I have cured all injuries that come with the game (I'm sure Derek would have done the same).
- I have adjusted the draft to 25 rounds instead of 30 (with more generated, as I found it).
The resulting archive file is 37kb. The current ABL archive, after just one year, is ~262kb. I believe that will make things far more manageable for all concerned. I know this is asking A LOT!
I know you have already invested weeks and months of your time. I know that you have made trades, extended players and signed free agents, and drafted for the future.
And not to heap more on you, but just to lay everything on the table... I would like to tweak the "house rules" ever so slightly, to streamline them - STILL MAINTAINING draft pick trading as is and the scouting as is, more a tweak of contracts and extensions. BUT FIRST, I'd love feedback on a RESTART!
Believe me, I will completely understand if a few of you "rage quit" (or even just politely suggest you would step away) if this feels like BS. Not hard feelings at this end...I completely understand.
PLEASE VOTE before end of day Tuesday so I can take the pulse of the ABL GM's regarding the direction to take?!

I honestly think that this is a good idea, I realize it will suck for some of us but that huge file was going to be trouble. So I get it and I'm in all the way !

I have voted no to staying although I'm not 100% married to that. I just feel that that I am in too many leagues at the moment and if you sweep away all my ties to the league I have the perfect excuse to walk away. I was kinda looking forward to seeing if my youth could hold on with Archer, Greinke and Odorizzi out for half the season but if the majority say restart I will consider my next move

The league file is horrible. It would take my very fast internet 45 mins to load at times. If we want this league to last 30 seasons then we'll have to bite the bullet and restart now and clean up things a bit. But in saying that the league file has been a lot better the last few days.

Thank you for all of your hard work into making a long lasting league. That's all I have.

Love the transparency David. I will remain with the league if you choose to re-start it. The logic behind the decision makes sense to me.

is there no way to make the file smaller in game. Deleting teams and leagues? deleting or changing other options?

I've voted no as was looking forward to the challenge the team was in. Not sure a restart will give me the team in a similar situation. But not a total no if you know what I mean.

I need to drop a league at some point, this may make the decision for me. I may remain, just not sure.

Downloaded League file in 2 minutes.
EDIT: That's not an indictment on anything, probably just a good advertisement for FIOS and making sure my channel isn't the same one neighbors use. I only have one step up from the basic FIOS internet package.

If I may ask, because of restarting after one year or the change in configuration of the minor leagues to make the league more manageable?

Upload is around 40. Plan is for 100 up 100 down.
