This is a really entertaining article and I enjoyed it. However, I really do have to wonder if GM conversations really do happen this way? With scouting departments, do GMs really need to "sell" their offers? Even in OOTP I do not try to do this too much, as I know other GMs can do their own research and form their own judgments.
But what I'm REALLY intrigued about is if GMs actually read other writers' trade ideas (such as Dave Cameron) and use that as 1) leverage or 2) starting points. I think it really could be possible, because a lot of these sports writers seem to come up with very reasonable ideas.
Thanks for sharing, David!

It is a hypothetical of course. Not sure how close to real it might be, but I am quite sure some "selling" (or rather negotiating to cut through the "posturing") takes place.
I posted this morning trying to imagine hearing this is ABL between two GM's, both seeking the best deal possible for their orgs.

Thanks for sharing this David.
I enjoyed it, even if it isn't real. That said, i think it is entirely possible ABL (and other OOTP GM leagues) talk trade like this, though might not always cite the deeper stats. I for one dig into team orgs and look at Sabermetrics, ratings, history and try to trend what might be to come. Doesn't always pan out but i do my homework, and i assume other GMs do as well. Not a huge fan of GMs asking about All-Star players and in return give 5 1 star guys, but ALL GMs should feel comfortable counter-offering as much as possible to land on the framework of a deal. Once there, it takes minor tweaks to make a deal happen.
There have been ALOT of trades in the ABL, i'm curious if anyone regrets trading a player or players so far? Trading for SP Michael Wacha has delivered the results i expected. But i hold out hope a full year in NY will help his transition. I look at d'Arnaud as an example sometimes players just need a change of scenery. I thought trading Conforto might come back to haunt me, but he just hasn't developed the way the RL life Conforto has.
Anyone care to share their trade history thoughts?
